Member/Partner

Anyone can prepare a financial statement. It’s the value you add along the way that makes a difference.

Ernesto Alvarez joined Topel Forman in 1985, immediately after completing his degree at the University of Illinois, Chicago. An Air Force Veteran, he took advantage of the GI Bill to advance his education, and he has continued to push himself to achieve more throughout his career, becoming a partner in 1998.

Ernie provides expertise for accounting and auditing of closely held businesses and employee benefit plans, including pension and profit sharing plans. He has consulted with a wide variety of clients in industries that include hospitality, manufacturing, construction and professional services. Ernie also offers tax planning and compliance services for individuals, corporations and partnerships.

Born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, Ernie moved to the U.S. with his family at the age of three. He met his wife Jean in college when they worked together as bank tellers, and they have raised two children, Megan and Katie. In his spare time, Ernie loves racquetball, golf, cooking and riding his motorcycle. And as a true Chicagoan, he’s an avid White Sox and Bears fan.
