Job Overview

Topel Forman is looking to add a Director of Information Technology (IT) to help lead the Firm’s information technology initiatives. As the Director of Information Technology, you will be reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and managing at team of two IT professionals at our mid-sized regional public accounting firm located in Downtown Chicago. You will be a strategic and valuable member of the Operations team; the Director of IT will be a visionary and strategic leader that will build and maintain the company’s technology and play an integral part in the growth of our firm and ever evolving technology changes.  This is an excellent opportunity for a values-based, dynamic, creative, hands-on information and technology leader who has overseen growth and automation.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with IT team to run day-to-day IT operations of the firm.
  • Supervises the IT group to ensure that firm technology is properly managed and proper policies are in place and being adhered to by employees – including computer systems, internet, email, telephones, cybersecurity
  • Overseeing the implementation of new software and technology platforms
  • Identify new technology practices that support the growth of our business and IT initiatives
  • Industry knowledge of competitive services, opportunities for innovation, and assessment of marketplace obstacles and technical hurdles to the business success
  • Set objectives for the technology group and determine key performance criteria for success
  • Organize team structure to most effectively meet business needs
  • Mentor and train talent to ensure tenure and employee engagement

Requirements

  • 7+ years of Information Technology experience from a mid-sized or large public accounting firm
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, IT, or related field
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical operations initiatives
  • Entrepreneurial and innovative approach including use of technology and automation to improve Firm processes
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Exceptional written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interact as a member of executive management and all levels of staff
  • Proven ability to challenge, motivate, and partner with an executive leadership team to foster innovation and lead change 
  • Ability to persuade and influence technology stakeholders and senior management on best practices and solutions
  • Ability to build, motivate and lead a diverse team of technology professionals
